Application Window Extended for State’s Digital Equity Grant Program

State government agencies, universities and community colleges now have until Nov. 10 to apply for $10 million in grants from the state’s first digital equity grant program. The N.C. Department of Information Technology’s Office of Digital Equity and Literacy today announced that the application deadline will be extended for the initial phase of funding, which will invest $10 million to support 10-15 projects.

State Office of Digital Equity and Literacy Launches $24M Digital Equity Grant Program Initial Phase to Fund Projects by State Agencies, Universities and Community Colleges

Governor Roy Cooper today announced the launch of the state’s first digital equity grant program, which will help North Carolinians afford high-speed internet, obtain digital devices and access digital literacy resources. The multi-phased program, administered by the N.C. Department of Information Technology’s Office of Digital Equity and Literacy, will invest up to $24 million of federal American Rescue Plan Act funds for collaborative digital equity projects.

Gov. Cooper Announces $206M in GREAT Grants to Expand Internet Access in 69 Counties Across the State State’s largest round of GREAT grant awards will connect nearly 85,000 households and more than 2,400 businesses to broadband

Governor Roy Cooper today announced that nearly 85,000 households and more than 2,400 businesses in 69 counties are set to receive access to high-speed internet thanks to more than $206 million of Growing Rural Economies with Access to Technology (GREAT) grants. This is the state’s largest round of GREAT grant awards to date. With this announcement, over $260 million in GREAT grants have been awarded to providers since July 2022. Additional grants are expected to be announced this fall.
