Congress must act to reauthorize the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) so that people can continue to afford to connect to high-speed internet, Governor Roy Cooper urged North Carolina’s Congressional delegation.

Governor Roy Cooper today announced the state’s first Completing Access to Broadband (CAB) program awards totaling $22 million that will connect 6,012 households and 164 businesses in 14 counties to high-speed internet. The CAB program, administered by the N.C.

The N.C. Association for County Commissioners awarded Nate Denny, N.C. Department of Information Technology deputy secretary for Broadband and Digital Equity, its distinguished service award for his work to help counties prepare for and participate in the state’s high-speed internet infrastructure funding programs.

The NCDIT Division of Broadband and Digital Equity’s five-year action plan for the state’s Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program funding has been approved by both the NTIA and NIST.

The NCDIT Division of Broadband and Digital Equity seeks public review and commentary on guidance posted today for its upcoming Broadband Pole Replacement Program as part of ongoing efforts to connect more North Carolinians with high-speed internet.

Across North Carolina, 25,825 households and 862 businesses in 33 counties will get high-speed internet thanks to nearly $80 million in additional Growing Rural Economies with Access to Technology (GREAT) grants, Governor Roy Cooper announced today.

Today, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) awarded North Carolina more than $1.5 billion to fund high-speed internet infrastructure under the federal Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program.
