The N.C. Departments of Commerce and Information Technology are collaborating to develop a pilot program to provide communities with resources to support the deployment of Wi-Fi in downtown business districts. The proposed program will utilize the Appalachian Regional Commission's (ARC) federal resources to expand and enhance Wi-Fi access in downtown business districts throughout North Carolina ARC counties. In North Carolina, ARC supports economic development activities in Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Caldwell, Cherokee, Clay, Davie, Forsyth, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Stokes, Surry, Swain, Transylvania, Watauga, Wilkes, Yadkin and Yancey counties. The following survey has been designed to help the program planners understand what the need for downtown Wi-Fi is in the ARC region of N.C. The survey will be used to support the development of a robust and valuable program. If you live or work in one of the North Carolina communities in the ARC region, please proceed with the survey. The survey will remain open until April 30, 2016.
