FirstTech

The First Responder Emerging Technologies, or FirstTech, program helps North Carolina public safety agencies stay on the cutting edge of technology when it comes to hardware and software. It also helps those essential agencies stay connected to the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network - the FirstNet Network.

FirstTech collaborates directly with experts in:

  • Networking
  • Hardware
  • Software
  • Applications
  • Operating systems

This collaboration identifies challenges and risks presented by new technologies and helps public safety officials in the following ways:

  • Deal with cybersecurity issues
  • Meet connectivity needs
  • Manage interoperability and compatibility issues within existing as well as emerging systems.
  • Provide technology research for projects such as school safety, emergency alerting and video analytics
  • Fosters cross-agency cooperation

For more information about the FirstTech program, contact the Broadband Infrastructure Office.
